Like a supermarket carrier, this is a vest carrier bag which refers to the vest shaped appearance of the bag. It's manufactured from a high density polythene which means it's scrunchy and thin to touch, just like a supermarket carrier. And just like a supermarket carrier, these bags are primarily designed for function over form. It's rare that you would find this type of bag in high end boutiques but you'll be sure to find them in the vast majority of high street stores.
What's it used for?
Standard duty: General purpose carrier bag, typically used for small grocery items, household goods, light clothing items, hats, kidswear and pot plants. This is the thinnest version of this carrier bag and is not suitable for heavy items and / or items with sharp corners. Medium duty: Slightly thicker than the standard duty version, this carrier bag is ideal for certain clothing lines (such as light jackers, trousers and shirts) as well as many food lines (meat, fruit and veg and specialist foods). This bag is also popular with shoe retailers as it accommodates small shoe boxes (typically ladies shoes) and shoes that are sold without boxes. Heavy duty: This is a good quality, strong carrier bag, typically used by food retailers for heavy food items including butchers who are bagging meat on the bone. Also commonly used for tools, pet food and books. Owing to its strength, this bag does not tear easily.
